I want to push back a bit here on the comment about gender studies: Are the biology and genetics professors also teaching their evolution-of-sex-differences courses with colleagues from gender studies? It's not clear why gender studies has to add more approaches from other disciplines if we're not demanding that biologists do the same. What if the two academic fields simply examine different questions (one being biological questions and the other being social questions)? Studying the social shaping of gender need not be an endeavor "beset by orthodoxy."
They certainly can and should. I taught an evo of human sexuality class and taught beyond the sex binary to include LGBT scholarship as well. In other areas I taught a religion class that took a hybrid approach to merge evolution with religion. So yea.
I think Nicole is being too generous in liking this post. Sorry but until Gender Studies departments are able to shift away from non-falsifiable claims, stop ignoring results run contrary to data then you are in the world of Hitchens razor. i.e. That which can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.

Been a while since the women and gender studies faculty at my institution were advocating for egalitarian solutions. Gone are the days, I guess.
