I want to push back a bit here on the comment about gender studies: Are the biology and genetics professors also teaching their evolution-of-sex-differences courses with colleagues from gender studies? It's not clear why gender studies has to add more approaches from other disciplines if we're not demanding that biologists do the same. What if the two academic fields simply examine different questions (one being biological questions and the other being social questions)? Studying the social shaping of gender need not be an endeavor "beset by orthodoxy."
