The capture of higher ed by Leftist (not "Liberal") faculty was the reesult of a conscious effort by the Left to take over the university, sometimes known as "the Long March through the institutions." This process was not "benign" or the result of anything other than a systematic effort to exclude non-compliant views and ideologies, which in recent years has featured write-your-own DEI Loyalty oaths as a pre-condition for employment, which is then carefully scrutinized for ideologial purity and sincerity by the hiring committee. You are aware of this, right?

If we can't be honest about whay has happened and why, we have no chance at fixing it.

And the real elephant in the room isn't poltical/ideological, it is financial, i.e., that the current system of undergradaute education is no longer makes economic sense. Again, if we aren't honest about what is happening, we have no chance at fixing it.

Defund, dismantle, and re-invent higher education--Now.
